I am from Papua New Guinea. I have graduated with a bachelors degree
in Environment Science at the University of Papua New Guinea. I am
more interested in working with the local community and improving
their living standard. Rural electrification is an important area of
development that I am looking at and I believe in such a terrainous
country with very fast flowing streams, hydro electricity is the most
appropriate system to set up.

I have been engaging myself in some community based conservation
projects including mini hydro power. I have big interest in
electricity an have been doing my own research and studies using
online electrical notes and other information source such as dialogues
and books.

I am writing to your office as I believe there is a big market for
products relating to micro-hydro electricity. The target market is the
Local Level Government and village communities, especially the
schools, clinics, and churces. Even individuals who are welloff would
want a set to be built in thier villages. The market is huge as the
bulk of the population do not have access to the main grid. They also
are not close to the road and so refueling of diesel or patrol gensets
is very difficult and costly.

I can make the market grow here as I can communicate the conviniencies
and the benefits of such products to our potential clients. Currently
there is only fuel gensets and solar sets here in Papua New Guinea as
alternative power sources.

Being all but retired from the telephone business, I moved back to my former home in the county of Angus Scotland where I have developed an interest in renewable-energy. In the eighties I had a small business draining mountains for agricultural purposes and can see that this no longer practiced practice, coupled with my experience there in, and the type of terrain concerned would lend well to the creation of waterways servicing small scale hydro projects.

Being in Scotland that has its own government with limited powers one of their current incentives is community funding for renewable energy projects

I finally managed to finished installing power plant. I have been too busy in Ottawa with the Government but I have had a little time lately.
The Generator works very well. I have tested the generator with a full load it works fine.
I do believe there is a very large market for micro hydro generators in British Columbia. I have been discussing with the provincial government for a simplified process to get water rights for micro hydro.
